About the project
“Aspirations” is an adult educational project funded by the EU Life Long Learning programme ‘Grundtvig’. It is a partnership of groups across Europe designed to encourage understanding of the differing dynamic cultures within the EU and associated countries and to encourage cooperation amongst groups and individuals. These aims are being achieved by a series of meetings held by partners sharing a common working theme developed in each local context.
For ‘Aspirations’ the partnership theme focuses on developing, amongst participants, an increased sense of ‘self-esteem’ & ‘well-being’ achieved through a series of creative activities designed to be of value for participants and their localities. The nature of these activities varies from partner to partner, but the emphasis is on encouraging participants to work creatively through social activities and to record the process in various media – including this web site. The process is designed to encourage reflection, by all involved, of issues relating to personal and community development – and to share a sense of ‘aspiration’ & to develop new thoughts, ideas and actions. The project concludes with all partners sharing a celebratory Spring festival in 2011, in a Romanian village set close to the Carpathian Mountains.
The picture demonstrates the general relaxed nature of this meeting and the speed with which all the partners had established a positive camaraderie.
