Frequently Asked Questions
Go to question:
1. Why cannot I edit my national page?
2. I'd like to have an expanded menu like Wales or Poland.
3. How can I add an image to the website?
4. How can I add documents with extensions like pdf, doc, ptt etc. to the website?
1. Why cannot I edit my national page?
I have never been asked this question before but I want you to understand what types of accounts we have on the website and what you can do with them.
There are two types of accounts on the website. (At any moment I may add a new type of account)
- national accounts (user names: wales, italy, turkey, romania, poland)
- personal accounts - they might be created by anyone using the option "Create new account", which is located under the User Login box.
RULES:
National accounts:
- you can edit your own national page,
- you can add new topics to the forum,
- you can add comments to all exisiting topics on the forum,
- you can edit/delete your own forum topics.
Personal accounts:
- you can add new topics to the forum,
- you can add comments to all exisiting topics on the forum,
- you can edit/delete your own forum topics.
Conclusion: You can edit your national page but ONLY having logged into your national account.
2. I'd like to have an expanded menu like Wales or Poland.
The greatest example of an expanded menu is the Welsh page. If you move your mouse to "WALES" in the upper menu additional sub-sections will appear. If you go to "Sarn" you can see that the SARN section is divided into smaller units. You cannot add these sub-sections on your own. Please inform me if you wish to have the same effect on your own page. When you decide to create new sections on your page, please give me their names.
If you have a lot of information on your national website, it is better to divide it into smaller units.
3. How can I add an image to the website?
First, prepare an image on your local disc. Each picture you want to upload should be accepted by the system.
Rules:
- images bigger than 1024x768 will automatically be resized to 1024x768.
- images smaller than 1024x768 won't be resized and will keep the original size.
REMEMBER: If you want to display the image either on your national website or on your forum site, you should upload the file to the server first (copy the file to the server).
1. Click "EDIT" as the arrow shows.

2. Click "File attachments". The special box will unroll. The box gives you a chance to control your files which are uploaded to the server.

3. Click the button "Search" (in the example below, it is "PrzeglÄ…daj", because my browser is Polish; you will probably have the word in your language) and choose a file you want to copy to the server.

4. Having chosen the file, please click "Attach" to copy the file to the server.

Congratualtions, you have just uploaded the file to the server. The image isn't displayed on your website yet.
5. With your mouse, highlight the link under the file name and copy it (Ctr+C).

6. Click "Insert/edit image" and a new window will appear.

7. Image URL (required field) - paste the link you copied before (see point 5 of this question).
Alignment - the position of the image within your post or page.
Dimensions - the size of the image. You might introduce new size or leave it unaltered.
Border - draw a border line around your image. It is set in pixels, for example 1.
Vertical space - the upper space from the nearest object (text, image) in pixels, for expample 100.
Horizontal space - the space on the left from the nearest object (text, image) in pixels, for example 50.

When you are satisfied with your choices, click "Insert" in order to display the image on your website.
8. Please do not forget to click "SAVE" at the bottom of the page to save all changes.

4. How can I add documents with extensions like pdf, doc, ptt etc. to the website?
All the files you are allowed to add are listed in the section "File attachments"!
"Only files with the following extensions may be uploaded: jpg jpeg gif png txt doc xls pdf ppt pps odt ods odp."
1. If you want to put pdf or other documents on the website, first you should copy the files to the server.
(see question number 3, points 1-5)
2. On the page, highlight the text you intend to link.

3.Click "Insert/edit link" as the red arrow shows and a new window will appear.

4. Link URL (required field) - paste the link you have copied before (see point 5 of the previous question).
Target - decide if you want your documents to open in a new window or in the same window
Title - give a title to the link
Class - this optional feature adds additional classes to the class option within the Insert / Edit Link. It relates to the format of the link - I don't use it myself :)

As soon as you are happy with your choices, click "Insert" in order to obtain the new link.
Now, if you click on the link, a new document will open.
5. Remember about the button "SAVE" to save all the changes you have introduced.
GOOD LUCK :)
