Our city
Our base city is Poznań, the historical capital of Wielkopolska. Located on the Warta river in the west of Poland, Poznań has a population of over 550,000 inhabitants and it is among the biggest and oldest cities in Poland. The climate of Poznań is continental humid, which means that we enjoy relatively cold winters and fairly hot summers. Snow is common in winter, while in summer temperatures may often exceed 30°C. Poznań has many historic buildings and sights, mostly concentrated around the Old Town. Many of these tourist attractions lie on the Royal-Imperial Route – a tourist walk leading through the most important parts of the city showing its history, culture and identity. One of the city’s highlights is the beautiful and colourful Old Market Square, with the Old Town Hall in the centre and many lively pubs and restaurants around it. A short distance away from the square, situated on an island between two branches of the Warta river, you can find the Cathedral of St. Peter and St. Paul, the burial place of the first rulers of our country. Poznań has a few state-owned universities, with Adam Mickiewicz University being one of the biggest and most influential universities in Poland. Our city is surrounded by a number of lakes, and there are many lovely parks and squares scattered around the city. Come and see it all for yourselves!
